Nintendo held it's much anticipated event today in New York City and a few other places, with the price of the Nintendo 3DS was expected to be announced along with some other details. Nintendo of America's President Reggie Fils-Aime was there to explain, and here's what we know officially know about the upcoming Nintendo 3DS.

    1. The Nintendo 3DS will support DS and 3DS games to be played on the system.

    2. A Virtual Console system similar to the Wii's will be used for the 3DS, users be able to download Game Boy and Game Boy Advanced games as virtual software.

    3. The price of the Nintendo 3DS will be $249.99.

    4. The Nintendo 3DS will be available in Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black.

    5. The Nintendo 3DS will support a 3D slider, so you can make it as 3D as you want it to be, or keep it flat to play.

    6. The 3DS will use only one friend code for each system, and not multiple friend codes like the Wii and DS. This will make it easier to find your friends online and connect to them.

    7. Over 30 3DS games are to be released at launch date, including but not limited to: Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, Nintendogs + Cats, Dead Or Alive: Dimensions, Madden NFL 3DS, Kid Icarus: Uprising, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, and many others.

    8. The 3DS comes with a Home button (like that on the Wii) that allows you to pause any game in use, and then lets you switch to other activities.

    9. An Activity log is included that will track your physical movement as well as your virtual actions. The 3DS also has a pedometer that earns you bonus coins when you walk around with it.

    10. The Nintendo 3DS introduces a new Mii Maker that works with the built-in camera, where you can snap a picture of yourself and it'll be rendered as a Mii.

    11. Other features include 3D video player, a new Internet browser, and more with 3DS online updates.

    12. The Nintendo 3DS will launch March 25th in Europe, and March 27th in North America.

Looking at the features, the 3DS looks more like a device for non-gamers as a accessory, but with the virtual console and 3DS games, it can go both ways for gamers too. It's price will be the same as the Wii when it first launched. I like the one friend code only feature, so you won't have to list or remember several of them like the Wii and DS. Looks like the 3DS will be a big hit among most. (Y)

This thing is more expensive than a Wii.
Does this have all that the Wii lacks? Maybe.

I'm surely going to get this as soon as possible, don't really care about the price,
plus I'm looking forward to the games (Zelda, MK3DS and Street Fighter).
Only thing is, will there be enough when I get there?
    Here's Hoping.

The Nintendo 3DS looks absolutely awesome! :D
I will definitely be getting one, probably at Christmas, which is a fair while to wait, but it might be a little less expensive by that time.
Thanks for posting this, Spiral. :)

No, AR is not action replay. I forgot what it is but that's not what it is. The action replay is not Nintendo made or endoresed, it is made by someone completely different.

AR is short for Augmented-Reality, and they're game cards. When the 3DS' two outer cameras points at them, they become 3D images and animations that "come out" of the cards. They can be used and played anywhere, like for an example you could play them on your desk. They're pretty neat.
